Jewelweed, Itchy Skin's Best Friend

Late every summer we traipse through our grandfather’s sheep pastures and head for the creek in search of Jewelweed. These tiny orange flowers look like little jewels dripping from the plant just waiting to be picked. As we pick the delicate flowers, we munch on pears from the nearby pear tree, listen to the sounds of birds in the trees, and swat the occasional mosquito.

Native Americans have long known of Jewelweed's ability to soothe itchy skin especially the notorious rash of poison oak and poison ivy but they also used it for insect stings and burns. Our family lives a lot of life outdoors and we are all too familiar with the rash of poison ivy. This soap offers comfort and perhaps speeds the healing of the many rashes. When our children came down with the chickenpox this soap was the first thing they reached for when the itching was intense.

Like all of our soaps, Jewelweed is safe and simple but it is also crafted to soothe poison ivy, bug bites, and other pesky itches. From the creek bank to your home, Jewelweed soap is designed to not only be safe and simple, but to provide some relief from summer’s worst itches.
